No new features, just stability improvements and better self-awareness.
Happy New Year!!! I hope 2026 will be a prosperous year for everyone.
My last post was back in November 2025, and yeah, I know I’ve been a bit inconsistent with my writing commitment. But a lot happened, and now I’m here again to share some thoughts.
Personal Life
The end of 2025 was very eventful. I visited my parents on Christmas Day, and for New Year’s Eve I returned to São Paulo to be with my fiancée. In the end, we called my parents to join us, and we all spent it together.
After many visits and a lot of searching, my fiancée and I finally found the apartment we’ll be moving into in the next few months. It still needs some design renovations, but the building structure and the apartment itself are solid.
One of the most important factors in our decision was the location. My fiancée needs to use public transportation to go to the office, and this place is very well located, close to subway stations and bus stops, all within walking distance.
We’re really happy with the choice and excited to start buying new furniture and decorations. I already know that for the next few months my wallet will be… very dry 😅.
For this year, I want to go back to the gym like I did in 2024, when I was more focused, and try to improve my overall quality of life. I also want to read more. At some point, I realized I had stopped reading as much as before, and that feeling bothered me throughout last year.
We also have many plans together, and I hope we can accomplish as many of them as possible this year.
Professional life
In addition to the resignation of my previous Engineering Manager, in December my Product Manager and Delivery Lead also left the team to take on other responsibilities within the company. When that happened, I honestly felt the ground shake a bit, and I got stressed.
After reflecting on all these changes, I realized that they were somewhat expected, especially with the Joint Venture process, but I didn’t anticipate losing almost all leadership at once.
After a few intense weeks, the team stabilized again and we’re back to a normal rhythm, delivering as usual.
One very positive update is that we finally completed the foundational deployment of our Data Platform. We’ve already started migrating some pipelines into the development environment, and I hope that by the end of January we’ll be able to validate everything and deploy to production. That’s definitely exciting.
I’m still working through some career-related thoughts and trying to find a way to feel more confident about my expertise. This is something I’ll talk about later, once I finish a few personal projects.
So this is where I’m starting 2026, not with big resolutions, but with awareness. Life is moving, work is evolving, and I’m learning to stay present through the changes instead of rushing to control them. I don’t have everything figured out yet, but I’m paying attention, and for now, that feels like progress.
